The accused in Chhattisgarh’s famous Jaggi murder case got relief, Supreme Court gave three weeks additional time to Yahya Dhebar and others to surrender.

Raipur. A big update has come out regarding the much talked about Jaggi murder case of Chhattisgarh. 27 accused in this case were to surrender in Raipur District Court today, but before that, the Supreme Court has given relief to Raipur Mayor Ajaz Dhebar’s brother Yahya Dhebar and others and has given three weeks additional time to surrender. According to the information, the bench of SVN Bhati has passed this order.

Let us tell you that the Lower Court had sentenced all the 28 accused in this case to life imprisonment. After which all of them filed an appeal in the High Court and challenged the decision of the lower court. In the hearing held on April 4, the division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Arvind Verma upheld the lower court’s life imprisonment sentence and directed him to surrender in the court. All of them were still out on bail.

Ramavatar Jaggi was murdered in 2003

On June 4, 2003, the NCP leader was shot dead. 31 accused were made in this case, out of which two Vikram Sharma alias Baltu Pathak and Surendra Singh became government witnesses. Case started against 29 accused. Except the main accused in this case, Amit Jogi, son of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, the remaining 27 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment. Apart from two then CSPs and a then police station in-charge, Raipur Mayor Ejaz Dhebar’s brother Yahya Dhebar and shooter Chiman Singh are also among those who got life imprisonment.
