Raipur, the heavy rains last week in Bastar division had disrupted life. Returning from his foreign tour, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, after reaching Dantewada, had given strict instructions to the district collectors in the divisional meeting to expedite relief and rescue operations. Now, this instruction of the Chief Minister is being implemented rapidly. On the one hand, flood-affected citizens are being provided with ration, treatment, and medicines, along with gas stoves and cylinders, while all the necessary arrangements for their daily life have also been made in the relief camps. Now, along with the receding of flood water, work is also being done rapidly on the actual assessment of the damage and providing other necessary assistance and compensation. The Revenue Department has also started the work of making necessary documents that were damaged or destroyed in the flood water. In this severe flood disaster, the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, has taken a sensitive initiative and started the process of immediate relief work and assistance-compensation, which has given great relief to the affected families.

Relief teams are working rapidly in the flood-affected villages. Along with this, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department is distributing Kisan Kitab to the affected farmers of Mandar village of Lohandiguda tehsil of Bastar district, which had been washed away due to the floods. Getting the Kisan Kitab will help the farmers to avail the benefits of government schemes and become eligible for any kind of assistance in the future. At the same time, new ration cards, Kisan credit cards and bank passbooks are being prepared and provided to the affected people. Along with this, the teams of the district administration are conducting door-to-door surveys to assess the damage and are transferring and paying the relief amount directly into their accounts as per eligibility.

The government’s focus is on ensuring that no affected family is left alone in their time of need. For this, a detailed account of the damage to houses, including animals, crops and household items, is being prepared, and work is being done seriously on each case. Complete transparency is being maintained in this process so that the compensation amount can reach the needy and affected people directly and on time.

Local affected families have appreciated this initiative of the government. An affected villager, Shri Murha Patel, said that we thought that everything was over after the floods, but this immediate help from the government has given us hope to start life afresh. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, this initiative of the district officials is being seen as a strong and humanitarian approach from the administration. This shows that in the time of disaster, the government is committed not only to relief work but also to rehabilitation and future security. Such efforts provide economic and mental support to the flood victims, which helps them to bring life back on track.
