The recent IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, orchestrated by Naxalites, resulted in the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to several other police officers. The attack occurred near Dondra village, while police were patrolling in anticipation of a bandh called by the Naxals. The ASP, who was critically injured, succumbed during treatment. This incident underscores the persistent threat of Naxalism in the region, despite ongoing operations by security forces to counter the Naxalites. Security forces have seen success in various districts, prompting retaliatory actions from Naxalites. The state government has increased search operations in the area. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra conveyed his condolences, honoring the ASP’s bravery and sacrifice.
