A significant incident in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, involved a fatal IED blast, claiming the life of ASP Akash Rao Giripunj and injuring multiple police officers. The explosion took place close to the village of Dondra. The police were on patrol because of a bandh, which was called by Naxals. The ASP, attached to the Konta division, tragically died during treatment. The injured were immediately taken to the Konta hospital for medical attention. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed deep sorrow over the loss, acknowledging the ASP’s courage and his numerous bravery awards. A thorough search and operation are underway in the area after the attack. This event emphasizes the ongoing difficulties encountered by the security forces in addressing Naxal activities, which has been a serious threat. Previous attacks, such as one in January 2025 in the Bijapur district that resulted in nine fatalities, illustrate the severity of the situation. The recent blast occurred between 9 and 10 AM.
