A ceremony in New Delhi saw Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recognizing officers involved in the success of recent anti-Naxal operations. He congratulated the officers on their achievements, and reiterated the government’s commitment to removing the threat of Naxalism. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister were also present.

In a post on social media, the Home Minister highlighted the importance of the operations and the bravery of the forces involved. He mentioned his eagerness to meet with the soldiers in Chhattisgarh soon to acknowledge their efforts. The Modi government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism was a key theme.

The anti-Maoist operations are being carried out under the Union Home Minister’s direction in Chhattisgarh. An operation by the Chhattisgarh Police in the Abujhmad area from May 18-21, 2025, resulted in a significant encounter on May 21, 2025, in Boter village. This led to the death of 27 Naxals, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, and the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition.

Key police officials from Chhattisgarh, including the DGP and other senior officers, were honored by Amit Shah. Senior officials from the Union Home Ministry and Intelligence Bureau were also present during the ceremony.
