Police in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, have apprehended two men in connection with the gang rape of a tribal woman in Kapu. The incident follows a prior case in Pusaur. The suspects reportedly threatened the married woman with a weapon and abducted her from her home. She was held captive and repeatedly assaulted for about a week. The police action followed the victim’s complaint; both suspects are now in custody. The case is under the jurisdiction of the Kapu police station.

The crime occurred on July 21st. The alleged perpetrators, Dhansay Ekka from Dhamnadand Kiriya village and Kamalu Tigga from Bensbudi, are accused of using a knife to threaten the woman and abduct her. They took her to various locations including Lailunga and Reruma, where they are alleged to have committed gang rape over several days.

Following the assault, the men released the victim. They then issued threats to her and her husband, warning them against reporting the incident. A village meeting took place, and the seriousness of the situation prompted the decision to report the matter to the police. Initially, the victim was hesitant to report due to fear of the perpetrators.

On Saturday, she finally reported the incident to the Kapu police station. ASP Akash Markam confirmed that a case had been registered. Police have charged the accused under the Arms Act and relevant provisions of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). The investigation, which followed the report, resulted in the arrest of both suspects.
