Raipur, March 31, 2025 / Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, during his visit to Bilaspur yesterday, launched the work on the first Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2X660MW) of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), costing over ₹15,800 crore.
This project will fulfill the major energy needs of Chhattisgarh’s energy sector. This project is a significant step towards making Chhattisgarh self-reliant in the field of energy.
It is noteworthy that after the approval of the Board of Directors, a detailed tender for this project was issued on February 12, 2024. Environmental clearance for the project was received on March 26, 2025, and after the Board of Directors’ approval, the work order was issued to the public sector unit, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, on March 27.
The Vishnu Deo government of Chhattisgarh had Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launch the work on this important project at a program organized in Bilaspur on March 30.
