Preparation for big flight in a small town, Air Force NCC started in Atmanand School, Devbhog

Purushottam Patra, Gariaband. Atmanand English Medium School of Devbhog has got a big achievement. Now it has become the first school in the district, where NCC (National Cadet Corps) of the Indian Air Force will be conducted. The school has received approval to conduct Air Force Junior NCC, under which 10 girl students and 14 male students have been selected in the first session.

Today, Air Force Junior Warrant Officer SN Paul, Sergeant Sunil Kumar and Shashank Thapliyal reached the school and selected students for NCC cadets. The students were selected through physical and interview in the presence of Principal Girish Chandra Behera and NCC in-charge Ganesh Soni. Thus, Devbhog’s Atmanand English Medium School has become the first school in the district where Air Force NCC training will be provided.

Officers had come for inspection a year ago

Devbhog got this big achievement due to the special interest of Wing Commander Vivek Sahu. Actually, NCC Air Wing C certificate holder Ganesh Soni is posted as a teacher in this school. He knew the information about the vacancy as well as the process to get it. For the last one and a half year, Ganesh Soni was in touch with Principal Girish Chandra and NCC officers. On 22 September 2023, the officers also visited the school, in which they took stock of the school premises, availability of ground and availability of suitable place for drill.

Rural children will get many benefits

Ganesh Soni, NCC in-charge of SEJS Devbhog, who was a part of the National Cadet Corps of the Indian Air Force, said that after 2 years of junior division training, the students will be given “A” certificate. Whose importance is everywhere. These students will be trained by an Air Force officer once a week in the school premises itself. These students will be given military training in parade, aircraft flying and firing once a week. Second year students will be given training in a special training camp in Raipur, in which they will get the opportunity to fly.
