To promote online payments, the Excise Department is set to introduce a cashless system in all liquor shops in Chhattisgarh. Customers will soon have the option to buy liquor by making payments online. Excise Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan made this announcement at a review meeting, emphasizing the need to encourage online transactions. He ordered that all payments at liquor shops be done exclusively through online methods.

Minister Dewangan also directed the installation of CCTV cameras in all liquor shops to facilitate round-the-clock monitoring from the headquarters, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision. He further instructed that strict action be taken against the illegal production, storage, transportation, and sale of liquor and narcotics. Additionally, he emphasized the need for heightened vigilance at excise check posts situated on inter-state borders and for conducting special enforcement operations.

During the meeting, Minister Dewangan also focused on preventing the illegal sale and consumption of liquor in hotels, dhabas, and farmhouses. He reviewed the operations of liquor shops, including licensing, marketing corporation activities, and bar-club management. He instructed officials to take action against alcohol-fueled parties held at farmhouses.

A detailed presentation on the department’s activities was given by Smt. R. Sangeeta, Secretary of the Commercial Tax Excise Department. The meeting included discussions on work plans and revenue targets. Key officials from the Excise Department and representatives from Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited and Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation were in attendance.
