The Chief Minister’s Rural Bus Scheme, launched on 4 October 2025 in Jagdalpur, has completed its first year of operation.
During this period, 107 buses are running on 106 approved routes across the 13 districts of Bastar and Surguja divisions. The service now reaches 850 villages that previously had no regular passenger bus.
According to the transport department, the fleet has collectively covered about 2.4 million kilometres, equivalent to 24 lakh km, and continues to travel roughly 17,500 km every day. The total length of all notified routes is about 5,300 km, with individual routes ranging from 14 km to 105 km and most seeing two trips daily.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai emphasised that safe and affordable transport to the farthest hamlets is a top priority. He highlighted that the scheme is bridging gaps to schools, hospitals, markets and district headquarters, giving remote residents the same access to essential services as those in urban centres.
