New line of development in Naxal-affected areas: Rail survey in final phase

Kothagudem-Kirandul rail line survey gains momentum: Survey being done with Lidar technology

Sukma-Dantewada-Bijapur districts will get rail connectivity

Raipur June 26, 2025/ The pace of development is now picking up in Bastar region, one of the most challenging areas of the country. After the central government approved the final location survey (FLS) work of the proposed 160.33 km long new rail line from Kothagudem (Telangana) to Kirandul (Chhattisgarh), the survey is now in its final phase. 138.51 km of this proposed rail line will pass through various areas of Naxal affected districts like Sukma, Dantewada and Bijapur of Chhattisgarh, which have been deprived of rail connectivity so far. This project will not only simplify the movement, but will also bring revolutionary changes in the socio-economic development of these districts.

The survey work is being done by the railways through advanced Lidar technology. This rail line project is being specifically monitored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and it is considered very important from the point of view of internal security as well as regional development.

Special gratitude has been expressed by the Indian Railways Department to the Chhattisgarh government and Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, whose instructions and coordination have enabled this survey work to gain momentum again. This railway line is going to become a symbol of security, inclusion and prosperity for Bastar region in the future.
