RAIPUR – In response to the surge in electric vehicles, the state government has approved the installation of 25 to 30 new fast‑charging stations across municipal areas. Under the Prime Minister’s e‑Drive scheme, each station will serve two‑wheelers and four‑wheelers alike. Site selection for suitable land and roadway corridors has already begun.
The main aim is to make charging readily accessible, especially for long‑distance travelers who often face range anxiety. By placing stations at roughly 25‑kilometre intervals on national highways and major arterial roads, drivers can top up without detouring.
A key condition is that charging points will only be built on roads at least 30 metres wide, ensuring safe operation and traffic flow. Urban authorities may approve additional points where demand is high, subject to their clearance.
