CG News: Amit Pandey, Khairagarh. Female bears and cubs died in the dense forest of Vikrampur West Forest Zone in the district. Local villagers reported the incident to the forest department team. Officers, wildlife experts and veterinarians have reached the spot and started investigation. The team has not found blood marks from the spot. At the same time, no deep bruises have been found on both the bodies. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
At the same time, there is no evidence of conflict in the initial investigation. It indicates death due to natural causes or any internal disease. All the bears’ parts were safe. Some experts believe that such incidents can also occur due to lack of water in the forest or toxic food intake. During the summer season, the water bodies start decreasing in the forest and sometimes wild animals drink contaminated water or eat some poisonous substances, which leads to their life. However, this will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.
CG News: Forest Department cremated
The forest department team cremated the bodies of both bears in the presence of villagers and wildlife officers. During this, DFO and Wildlife Warden Alok Kumar Tiwari, Joint Forest Officer Dr. Mona Maheshwari and Assistant Veterinary Surgeon Mamta Ratre were also present on the spot.
Fear among villagers, forest department increased monitoring
After this incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among the villagers of the area. They believe that if the bear and his cub have died of any disease, then it can also be a threat to other wildlife. Keeping this in mind, the Forest Department has increased monitoring in areas around the forest and deployed special teams to monitor the activities of other wildlife.
For wildlife protection, the availability of water bodies in the forests and purity of food is very important. If a biological or chemical cause is found behind the bear’s death, it will be a matter of concern. The forest department has assured a detailed investigation into the incident and said that they will take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in future.
At the moment, the female bear and her child remain the secret of death. It will be clear only after the report of the Forest Department was that what was the real reason behind this tragic incident.
