Security forces in Chhattisgarh have achieved a major success with the surrender of 50 Naxal cadres, including 32 women, in Kanker district. The group surrendered to the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion at the Kamtera camp, also depositing 39 weapons. This coordinated surrender is seen as a severe setback for the Maoist insurgency in the Maad region. Among those who surrendered were prominent leaders such as Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, along with five high-ranking DVCM members and 21 ACM-level operatives. This initial wave of surrenders from the northern Maad is expected to be followed by a larger group of around 120 Maoists in Bijapur district soon. Authorities are actively promoting community integration programs to encourage more insurgents to abandon the movement.
