Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district has witnessed a substantial surrender of 50 Naxal cadres, comprising 32 women, to security forces. The act of disarmament occurred at the Kamtera camp of the BSF’s 40th Battalion. The surrendered rebels handed over 39 weapons, signaling a considerable setback for the Maoist movement. Key figures present among the surrendering group included senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, alongside five DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-level members. This event is considered a significant victory for anti-insurgency efforts in the Maad territory. Hopes are high for further progress, as an estimated 120 more cadres are expected to surrender in Bijapur soon. Efforts to reintegrate former cadres are being bolstered by community engagement initiatives.
