A fierce gun battle is ongoing between security forces and Naxalites in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh, with reports indicating 10 Naxalites have been killed. The encounter, which began Thursday morning in the forests under the Mainpur police station, also resulted in the death of Modem Balkrishna, a Naxal commander with a one-crore-rupee bounty on his head. The security forces launched an operation after receiving information about the presence of Naxalites. The operation involved the E-30, STF, and CRPF Cobra Commandos. IG Amresh Mishra of Raipur Range confirmed the ongoing encounter, with intermittent gunfire, and stated that STF, CRPF Cobra Commando battalion, and other state police units are involved in the operation.
