In a significant counter-insurgency success, 50 Maoist cadres, comprising 32 women, have surrendered to authorities in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. The group also yielded 39 weapons, signaling a weakening of Naxal presence in the region. The surrender, facilitated by the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion at their Kamtera camp, included high-ranking figures such as commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam. The surrender also involved five DVCM-level leaders and 21 ACM-level members, underscoring the depth of the impact on the Naxal hierarchy. This event is particularly noteworthy as it is the first wave of surrenders from the northern Maad region. Security agencies are actively engaged in outreach programs, aiming to encourage more cadres to renounce violence. Expectations are high for a larger group of approximately 120 Maoists to surrender in Bijapur district by Thursday, further consolidating gains against the insurgency.
