A young couple’s love story ended in tragedy when they decided to take their lives after the girl’s family rejected their marriage proposal. The boy’s family had accepted the relationship, but the girl’s family was against the union. The couple jumped into the Hasdev River from the Anicut dam. While the young man was rescued, the search continues for the young woman.
Police received word of the incident at the Girwa Ghat on the Hasdev River. Police personnel and divers bravely entered the water, battling the strong currents. They managed to reach a young man stranded in the middle of the river. The young man, Rahul, a resident of Kashi Nagar, explained that he was in love with a girl from Atal Awas in Maharana Pratap Nagar. They wanted to marry, but her family disapproved, which led to their suicide attempt in the Hasdev River.
The girlfriend, according to Rahul, was not found by the divers. The search continues for her.
