Abhishek Semar, Takhatpur. The process of death of elephants in Chhattisgarh is not showing any sign of stopping. Incidents of death of elephants are continuously coming to light in various districts of the state. Recently, the case of simultaneous death of three elephants in Gharghoda of Raigarh district had not stopped when the second latest incident took place in Tingipur of Bilaspur district. Here a mere 3-year-old baby elephant died due to electrocution. The dead body of this little elephant was lying like this for the last 2 to 3 days, but no responsible officer came to take care of it. When Lalluram.com correspondent Abhishek Semar reached ground zero, the forest department team was immediately alerted and now the post-mortem of the dead elephant’s body is being done.
Strict action will be taken against those responsible
In this matter, CCF Prabhat Mishra of Bilaspur Range said that the baby elephant died due to electric shock and strictest action will be taken against whoever is responsible for this incident. On the media’s question regarding the death of the little elephant three days ago, CCF Prabhat Mishra, in defense of the irresponsible officers and employees of the department, said that the area of the bit guard is small and if he is not able to see his compartment. So the first action is based on that. The death of the little elephant shows great carelessness. This incident is of criminal nature, because the electric wire was installed to kill small animals. The accused have been arrested in this case and their interrogation is ongoing.
Outrage among wildlife lovers
There is a lot of anger among wildlife lovers due to the continuous death of elephants. His question is that for how long will the death of wildlife continue due to the indifference and negligence of the forest department? Crores of rupees are spent every year for the conservation and care of wildlife, but the situation remains the same.
In this matter, Youth Congress State Secretary Rameshwar Puri Goswami took the Forest Department to task and expressed his anger. He has demanded from the government and administration to take action against all the responsible officials including the ranger for the death of the little innocent elephant. Rameshwar said that crores of rupees are spent by the Central and State Government for the conservation of elephants, but despite this, such a painful death of elephants raises questions on the responsible officials. The elephant had died three-four days ago, but the responsible officers of the department were sleeping in Kumbhakarni sleep. When the stench from the elephant’s body spread in the village, it was realized that the elephant had died and the department came into action. In this case, the little elephant has finally been buried today after post-mortem, ignoring the Mungeli-Bilaspur border area.
Rameshwar said that there is a lot of leopard movement in Sawantpur circle of Lormi buffer zone, despite this, due to the apathy of the department, today an innocent little elephant had to pay the price by giving his life. Hunting incidents are also rampant in the area, in which electric wire snares are used to hunt wild animals.
