A significant blow has been dealt to Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, as 50 Naxal fighters, comprising 32 women, surrendered to the Border Security Force. The surrender ceremony, held at the Kamtera camp, also saw the handover of 39 weapons. This large group included high-ranking members of the Naxal hierarchy, such as five DVCM-rank commanders and 21 ACM-level fighters. The Maad region’s Naxal network has been considerably disrupted by this event. Security forces are optimistic about further gains, with plans for another large surrender of around 120 cadres expected in Bijapur district within the next day. Efforts are underway to encourage more insurgents to return to civilian life.
