A passenger bus traveling from Raipur to Jagdalpur met with a serious accident near Bastar village close to Jagdalpur. The incident happened around 4 am on Monday. The bus, operated by Manish Travels, collided with a parked truck near the Majisa petrol pump under the jurisdiction of the Bastar police station. The bus driver and a female helper were killed instantly in the accident, and several passengers sustained injuries. It is believed that the driver fell asleep, which led to the crash. Police from the Bastar police station reached the location immediately after the accident and started a rescue operation. Approximately 30 passengers were on the bus when the accident occurred. While all passengers were safe, the bus driver Satyendra Singh, 35, from Durg, and the helper Pushpa, 20, from Bijapur, could not be saved. The front part of the bus was severely damaged. Rescue workers used cutters to get the driver out of the wreckage, but both the driver and the helper were pronounced dead at the scene.
