Raipur. On Congress’s allegations regarding OBC reservation in urban body and three-tier Panchayat elections, BJP, two ministers including the Deputy Chief Minister and the State President have responded in a press conference. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said that Congress does politics based on three things – fear, confusion and corruption. Congress is doing politics among OBCs. Addressing the media along with ministers Tankaram Verma, Lakshmi Rajwade, and state president Kiran Singhdev on the issue of OBC reservation, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said that Congress has always been anti-reservation. Reservation is being given to everyone in the state as per the constitution. The BJP government has followed the rules as per the law. BJP will give more than enough respect to the OBC category. After the elections, the representation of OBC category will be more than before.

Arun Sao said that there are 33 district panchayats in Chhattisgarh. According to the Supreme Court, a maximum of 50 percent reservation can be given. Out of 33 districts, 16 districts are notified areas. Seats can be reserved for ST category in areas notified in the Panchayati Raj Act. Under the 13 percent reservation system, 4 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste category in the state. In this way, 20 seats out of total 33 posts were reserved.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that if reservation is more than 50 percent, then there cannot be OBC reserved seats on the posts of president. OBC reservation has been given to District President, Sarpanch in Gram Panchayat and District Panchayat members. Congress started creating ruckus on the issue of reservation. Congress is busy spreading lies and confusion.
