Raipur, April 12, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today attended the program for the newly appointed chairpersons of Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation Limited and Chhattisgarh State Farmers Welfare Council to assume their positions in Sector-24, Nawa Raipur. He extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Shri Chandrahas Chandrakar, the newly appointed chairman of Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation Limited, and Shri Suresh Kumar Chandravanshi, the newly appointed chairman of Chhattisgarh State Farmers Welfare Council, for their new responsibilities.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that in agriculture-dominated Chhattisgarh, Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation Limited and Chhattisgarh State Farmers Welfare Council have a very important role in the development of farmers and agriculture. Farmers are the backbone of our economy. Fields flourish only when the seed is good. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation Limited to ensure that farmers get good quality seeds on time. He said that both the chairpersons assuming office today are farmers themselves. They understand the difficulties of the farmers well. Certainly, both the chairpersons will fulfill their responsibilities well.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that our government understands the pain and suffering of the farmers. Under the leadership of our successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, many schemes are being run for the progress of agriculture and farmers, the benefits of which are also reaching Chhattisgarh. Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the creator of Chhattisgarh, started the Kisan Credit Card scheme to solve the problems of farmers. During the tenure of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, the facility of loans at zero percent interest was started for farmers.
International cargo facility will start soon at Raipur Airport
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the international cargo facility will start soon at Raipur Airport. This will give the farmers’ produce access to the international market and they will benefit. Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the food-provider farmer brothers and sisters of the state to produce millets, maize, and such crops that consume less water. He said that we need to move towards organic farming. The Chief Minister said that the Saur Sujala Yojana will be restarted, in which solar irrigation pumps will be made available to the farmers on subsidy. The Chief Minister also emphasized on farmers adopting horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry along with farming to increase their income. He asked the farmers and villagers to participate in the survey being conducted for the Awas Plus-Plus scheme. He said that the eligibility for the housing scheme has been increased. Now those who have 5 acres of unirrigated land, two and a half acres of irrigated land, have a motorcycle, as well as those with a monthly income of 15 thousand are also eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He said that in the last five years of the previous government, 1.8 million poor people were deprived of Pradhan Mantri houses. The Chief Minister said that our government is committed to providing the poor with their rights. On the second day of taking the oath, we approved 1.8 million houses in the cabinet meeting. In the last 14 months, we have received the amount for 1.4 million houses from the Center. Union Minister of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is going to give Chhattisgarh the amount for three and a half lakh houses soon.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that Chhattisgarh Farmers Welfare Council and Chhattisgarh Seed Development Corporation have an important contribution in creating better innovations and new schemes for farmers. Our government has given its responsibility to two very experienced, efficient organizers, farmer sons from the ground level. Surely the farmers of the state will get its benefit.
