Gaurav Jain, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi. In the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, voting was completed today on seven Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh. In this, votes were cast in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh, Surguja, Janjgir-Champa Lok Sabha constituencies. During this period, there were reports of malfunctions in EVM machines at many polling booths, at some places these were rectified and at some places the machine had to be replaced. But a strange incident happened in booth number 13 of the former secondary school of Gaurela Municipality. Where someone put a black ink mark on the button with the name of BJP candidate Tokhan Sahu on the EVM machine. Despite this, voting continued here till 4 pm. They came to know about this only when the agents and voters told the polling personnel about this.
After coming to the notice of the matter, Block Congress President Amol Pathak has accused BJP of conspiracy regarding the mark. Amol Pathak said- I got information from the agent that the name of BJP candidate Tokhan Sahu was registered in the second button of the EVM machine in booth number 13. A mark of black ink was found on it. After which we wrote to the presiding officer, the acknowledgment of which has also been given to us. After the intervention of RO, the presiding officer and supervisor investigated and found that the EVM was marked. After this, the presiding officer present at the spot replaced the inked EVM and got the voting process done with another EVM.
Congress accused BJP of conspiracy
Block Congress President Amol Pathak said that the voters who were coming out after voting also told that the mark was there since morning and this incident happened at around 4 o’clock. This means that voting continued in this manner till 4 o’clock in which no one took cognizance. Accusing BJP of conspiring in this matter, Amol Pathak said that we have seen the involvement of BJP people in this.
I will be able to tell something after investigation – RO
In this case, RO Amit Beck says that a written complaint has been received in the matter, after the complaint, the presiding officer present on the spot replaced the first EVM and completed the voting with the second EVM machine. I will be able to tell you something further after investigating the complaint.
Voters were seen getting upset
It is noteworthy that today voting had to be stopped for some time after the news of ink getting stuck in the EVM in booth number 13 of the former secondary school of Gaurela Municipality. During this time voters were seen getting worried. Everyone had to wait until the second EVM was replaced.
