The police have cracked the case surrounding the murder of a priest in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The investigation revealed that the crime was motivated by an affair. The victim, Jageshwar Pathak, had been involved with a married woman. Her husband planned and executed the priest’s murder. The police have arrested the husband and four accomplices, including a minor. The priest was lured to the scene under the guise of a religious activity and then murdered using a suspension pipe. The incident took place on August 31st. The priest’s body was found in the morning at the Path Baba temple complex, within the jurisdiction of the Takhatpur police station. The body bore severe head injuries. The police, along with a dog squad and the FSL team, were dispatched to the site. Bilaspur SSP Rajnesh Singh also attended the scene. The police conducted investigations based on statements from the victim’s family and acquaintances. The investigation revealed the priest’s affair, which led to the detention of suspects and ultimately solved the case. Suresh, Hemkumar, Dhanraj, Mukesh, and a minor were arrested.

Within 24 hours, the police managed to arrest the perpetrators. ASP Rural Archana Jha, SDOP Kota, the Takhatpur police station team and ACCU team were involved in the investigation. The investigation revealed that the deceased priest had an affair with Suresh’s wife. This affair began during the time Suresh was farming in a field next to the temple. The husband was angered by the affair. According to the police, Suresh and his wife had a social divorce six months ago. Suresh sought revenge and, on Saturday night, planned the murder with his friends. He lured the priest under the pretense of a motorcycle ritual. They then attacked him with a brick and suspension pipe, killing him and then fleeing the scene. After the investigation, police arrested five people including a minor. The case is under further investigation.
