Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the new campus of IIT Bhilai. The Union Education Ministry has issued a letter for this. In this event, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Higher Education Minister Brijmohan Agarwal and regional MLAs will also be present in the IIT campus.

The construction work of the permanent building of Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai started 5 years ago. The work of its first phase was to be completed by December 2022. But due to the delay of the construction agency, the construction is now being completed. Students are studying here from the month of October 2023, before this IIT was being run in the Government Engineering College campus in Sejbahar, Raipur.

This modern campus being built on 543 acres, in the first phase will have 18 lecture halls, classrooms, two buildings each of engineering department and science department, mess block, hostel, library, CIF building for research scholars along with lecture rooms, central prototype facility. , Central Instrumentation Facility, Connectivity Corridor, Accommodation for Faculty and Staff, Library and Data Centre, Shopping Centre, Health Centre, Institute Club and Guest Rooms have been constructed.

Complete setup will be put in place in the permanent campus of IIT, starting from high-tech laboratory and installation of new machines, so that like other IITs of the country, the students studying in IIT Bhilai also leave the institute with the latest information. The government had given Rs 879 crore to Larsen & Toubro Limited Company (L&T) for the construction of the first phase.

Special care has been taken to conserve nature in the construction of this campus. The trees and ponds already present in the campus have not been harmed, they are being nurtured naturally, so that the environment of the IIT campus remains completely eco-friendly.

Unofficial resolution was passed in Vis

Actually, before Durg district, IIT campus was to be constructed in Bharegabhantha village near Abhanpur. But a major role in the coming of IIT Bhilai was played by the non-official resolution which Premprakash Pandey had got passed in the Assembly when he was the Vice President. In the cabinet of former CM Dr. Raman Singh, a proposal was passed to build it in Sirsakhurd and Kutelabhantha villages of Durg. After which the team of the Central Higher Education Ministry conducted a survey here and gave the final approval to the construction proposal.
