Raipur. Dhamtari Collector IAS Namrata Gandhi has been selected for the Prime Minister’s Award for her active contribution towards water conservation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will honor Namrata Gandhi on April 21 on the occasion of Civil Service Day. Namrata Gandhi is the third IAS officer from Chhattisgarh to be honored with the Prime Minister’s Award. Earlier, the then Dantewada Collector OP Chaudhary and IAS Saurabh Kumar had received this award. In view of the problem of drinking water in Bhakhara Nagar Panchayat, Dhamtari Collector Namrata Gandhi, along with the officials of Nagar Panchayat and Water Resources Department, made a plan to supply water from Gangrel Canal to Silghat from January 2024.
Drinking water supply to the residents of Bhakhara town was started by treating the water of Gangrel canal by taking it to the water treatment plant through the intake well of Nagar Panchayat near Silghat Anicut. In this way, due to the foresight of Collector Namrata Gandhi, the long standing drinking water problem of the Nagar Panchayat area was solved. Because of this work he got recognition at the national level.

Honors in Political Science
Namrata Gandhi completed her schooling from CBSE board from Gopi Birla School, Mumbai. After this he did Political Science Honors from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Namrata had secured second rank in Mumbai University in graduation. Namrata Gandhi was active not only in studies but also in intellectual activities like debates.
Become IAS in UPSC in second attempt
After completion of graduation, Namrata started preparing for UPSC. For the main examination, she kept Political Science as her optional subject. By preparing with hard work and better strategy, she got 600 rank in her first attempt in UPSC 2011 and got selected for Indian Postal Service. In her second attempt in 2012, Namrata Gandhi passed UPSC by securing 42nd rank and was selected for IAS.
Collector of Gariaband and GPM
Namrata Gandhi cracked UPSC 2012 and became IAS of 2013 batch. Namrata was allotted Chhattisgarh cadre. Namrata joined IAS service on 2 September 2013. He got his first posting as Assistant Collector in Rajnandgaon for field posting. After which she became the SDM of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi sub-division of undivided Bilaspur district. Then she was the CEO of Kanker, Surguja and Dhamtari District Panchayat. After this, after Gariaband and GPM, now she is the collector of Dhamtari district.
