Raipur. Indian Administrative Service officers have brought glory to Chhattisgarh. Along with Dhamtari Collector Namrata Gandhi, Sukma Collector Harish S has also been selected for the PM Trophy. Talking about Harish S, he has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Services 2023 for the all-round development of Sukuma district. In this regard, V Srinivas, Secretary, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, has issued a letter. A letter of appreciation has been sent to the Chief Secretary of the state along with the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training, so that they can include it on the ER sheet of the officer. .
Harish S, 2015 batch IAS of Chhattisgarh cadre, is the collector of Sukma district. This is the first district of Harish S, originally from Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, as a collector.
Birth and education
Harish S is a resident of Madurai in Tamil Nadu state. He was born on 6 November 1987. His father was an engineer in the Water Resources Department. Harish S’s mother was a hospital administrator in a private hospital. Harish is the only child of his parents.
He passed 12th from TVS School Madurai with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. After higher secondary, Harish obtained B.Tech degree from Manufacturing Branch from College of Engineering, Guindy, located in Chennai. After doing engineering, Harish worked in a software company and bank for some time. Then he left the job and started preparing for UPSC. Harish S cracked UPSC in his fifth attempt and got selected for IAS. Harish S had chosen Anthropology as an optional subject in the UPSC Main Examination.
professional career
Harish S joined IAS service on 7 September 2015. After completing training from Lal Bahadur Administration Academy, he was posted as Assistant Collector in Bilaspur district for field training. Later he became SDM in Kharsia sub-division of Raigarh district. After SDM, he was Additional Collector of Raigarh.
During posting in Kharsia and Raigarh, land acquisition and revenue related work was handled well. Harish S., while living in Raigarh, had an important contribution in carrying out the election process in a peaceful manner in the 2018 assembly elections. After Raigarh Additional Collector, Harish S became the District Panchayat CEO of Balrampur-Ramanujganj district. Was the District Panchayat CEO of Bilaspur district. Harish S got his first posting as Collector in Sukma district.
Namrata Gandhi selected for water conservation
Dhamtari Collector IAS Namrata Gandhi has been selected for the Prime Minister’s Award for her active contribution towards water conservation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will honor Namrata Gandhi on April 21 on the occasion of Civil Service Day.
Namrata Gandhi is the third IAS officer from Chhattisgarh to be honored with the Prime Minister’s Award. Earlier, the then Dantewada Collector OP Chaudhary and IAS Saurabh Kumar had received this award.
In view of the problem of drinking water in Bhakhara Nagar Panchayat, Dhamtari Collector Namrata Gandhi, along with the officials of Nagar Panchayat and Water Resources Department, made a plan to supply water from Gangrel Canal to Silghat from January 2024. Drinking water supply to the residents of Bhakhara town was started by treating the water of Gangrel canal by taking it to the water treatment plant through the intake well of Nagar Panchayat near Silghat Anicut. Due to the foresight of Collector Namrata Gandhi, the drinking water problem of the Nagar Panchayat area was solved.

Namrata Gandhi completed her schooling from CBSE board from Gopi Birla School, Mumbai. After this he did Political Science Honors from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Namrata had secured second rank in Mumbai University in graduation. Namrata Gandhi was active not only in studies but also in intellectual activities like debates.
Become IAS in UPSC in second attempt
After completion of graduation, Namrata started preparing for UPSC. For the main examination, she kept Political Science as her optional subject. By preparing with hard work and better strategy, she got 600 rank in her first attempt in UPSC 2011 and got selected for Indian Postal Service. In her second attempt in 2012, Namrata Gandhi passed UPSC by securing 42nd rank and was selected for IAS.
Collector of Gariaband and GPM
Namrata Gandhi cracked UPSC 2012 and became IAS of 2013 batch. Namrata was allotted Chhattisgarh cadre. Namrata joined IAS service on 2 September 2013. He got his first posting as Assistant Collector in Rajnandgaon for field posting. After which she became the SDM of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi sub-division of undivided Bilaspur district. Then she was the CEO of Kanker, Surguja and Dhamtari District Panchayat. After this, after Gariaband and GPM, now she is the collector of Dhamtari district.
