In Dhamtari district, a woman’s life was tragically cut short due to her husband’s pervasive suspicions. The couple had been embroiled in conflict for some time, with suspicion being the root cause. The wife ultimately chose to end her life. This incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station, specifically in the Baniyapara ward. The couple had moved to the area from Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, seeking employment as laborers. The deceased, Surekha Ahuja, and her husband were both employed at a Kirana Bhandar (grocery store) in the Jalampur ward, where they also resided in a rented house. Their marriage, which took place approximately ten years ago, had been seriously affected by mutual distrust during the past two years. Accusations and lack of faith had become commonplace, leading to constant arguments and stress. On Friday, Surekha was found to have committed suicide by hanging herself with a chunari at home. The Kotwali police responded promptly and sent the body to the district hospital for a post-mortem. The police investigation is underway to determine the complete details of the case.
