Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recognized the contributions of officials from Chhattisgarh in successful anti-Naxal operations during a meeting in New Delhi. The meeting celebrated the accomplishments of these operations, attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma. Shah underscored the government’s commitment to freeing India from the menace of Naxalism. Under the Union Home Minister’s guidance, security forces conducted operations in Chhattisgarh, including an operation in the internal areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to May 21, 2025. This operation, led by the Chhattisgarh Police along with DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, resulted in the killing of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Baswaraju alias Gaganna, in an encounter near Boter on May 21, 2025. Substantial arms and ammunition were recovered. The honored officials included senior police officers from Chhattisgarh, such as the Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, along with several other key figures. The event was also attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and other high-ranking officials.
