Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah honored officials from Chhattisgarh in New Delhi for their significant role in recent anti-Naxal operations, celebrating the historic successes achieved. The meeting underscored the government’s dedication to eliminating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present.

Taking to X, Home Minister Shah shared, “I met the officers who played a key role in the recent anti-Naxal operations and congratulated them on their success. I am also eager to meet the brave soldiers who made these operations successful and will soon visit Chhattisgarh. The Modi government is committed to freeing India from the scourge of Naxalism.”

The operations, which were conducted under the supervision of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, saw the Chhattisgarh Police, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG) forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, conduct anti-Maoist activities. An encounter in the forests of village Boter in the Abujhmar area on May 21, 2025, resulted in the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna. Substantial amounts of weapons and ammunition were also recovered.

Among those honored were Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar (Narayanpur), Jitendra Yadav (Bijapur), and Shalabh Singh (Bastar). The event was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and several other senior officials.
