Prime Minister Janman Yojana becomes a roof of self-respect – an inspiring story of a lively dialogue.
The dream of three lakh poor people came true, they reached their own proper houses.
Prime Minister himself handed over the keys of the new houses to Somari Punem, Dalluram Baiga and Jagatpal Ram.
Even in remote forest areas, the poor and deprived now have their own proper houses, living without worries in their dream homes with safety and respect.
Raipur, March 30, 2025/ When Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries during the public meeting and inauguration-foundation stone laying ceremony of development works held in village Mohbhatta of Bilaspur district, a special moment came on the stage – a simple, brief but lively, heartfelt and meaningful conversation between the Prime Minister and Dallu Ram Baiga.
The Prime Minister asked with a smile –
“Has a proper house been built?”
Dallu Ram replied with folded hands –
“Yes, it has been built.”
Prime Minister Shri Modi then asked affectionately –
“Are you feeling good or not?”
An emotional Dallu Ram replied –
“Feeling good.”
The Prime Minister finally asked –
“Is everything else alright?”
Dallu Ram said with confidence –
“Alright.”
This conversation was not a formal Q&A session, but a direct illustration of trust, empathy and partnership.
Today is a very special and unforgettable day for three lakh poor families of Chhattisgarh. Today, on the first day of Chaitra Navratri, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave them a housewarming in their dream homes. These include a large number of poor and deprived families from remote forest areas. These are families who would probably never have been able to fulfill their dream of having their own proper house if there was no scheme like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This scheme is fulfilling a big dream of lakhs of poor families of the state.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today handed over the keys of new houses to three tribal families from remote areas with his own hands in Mohbhatta, Bilaspur. When Prime Minister Shri Modi symbolically handed over the keys of their newly built proper houses from the stage to Smt. Somari Punem of Cherpal Panchayat of Bijapur district, Shri Dalluram Baiga of village Hathidob of Kabirdham district and Pahari Korwa Shri Jagatpal Ram of Kardana Panchayat of Jashpur district, their happiness knew no bounds.
Food, clothing and shelter are the most basic needs of every human being. In backward rural and tribal areas where there is still a severe lack of resources, a proper house is not just a wall and a roof, but a symbol of respect, security and confidence.
Dalluram Baiga, belonging to the particularly backward tribe Baiga community, once lived in a mud and tile house in the shadow of fear and insecurity. Rainwater dripping from the roof, weak mud walls and venomous creatures crawling in the silence of the night… living with the whole family in such conditions was a daily struggle.
After Dalluram’s house was sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, the journey of his dream home began. Along with financial assistance of two lakh rupees for house construction, he also received 23 thousand rupees as 95 days of MNREGA wages. He also got basic facilities like cooking gas, toilet and electricity from other schemes. Now Dalluram and his family are not only living in a safe house, but are also making their identity in the society with self-respect and pride.
The smile of fulfilling dreams, not of walls
Shri Jagatpal Ram of village Kardana, nestled in a remote area of Jashpur district, belonging to the Pahari Korwa community, known as the adopted sons of the President, had been spending his life in a dilapidated hut for years. During the rainy season, water dripped from the roof, there was mud all around and an atmosphere of fear inside. There was fear of snakes and scorpions, the burden of repairing the hut every year, and also the lack of basic amenities like electricity.
The Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Awas Yojana, brought a ray of hope for Jagatpal. With the help of two lakh rupees received under the scheme, Jagatpal built a clean, strong proper house where there are not only rooms to live in, but also a toilet and electricity. Now his family is safe from the onslaught of torrential rains, wild animals and the dangers of the dark night.
