Bemetara Folk artists of Bemetara district made a great performance at the International Culture Festival held in Egypt (EGYPT), identifying the rich folk culture and dance tradition of Chhattisgarh on a global stage. The festival was held from 13 to 24 February, in which artists from 17 countries participated. This prestigious program was attended by Chhattisgarh Panthi Dal under the leadership of Punadas Joshi, a resident of village Junadu of Nawagarh development block of Bemetara district and mesmerized everyone with their art.

Representing the culture of Chhattisgarh, folk artists gave a beautiful performance of Panthi, Suva, Bastar famous Karma dance, Raut Nacha, Danda Dance and Gauri-Gaura at a fast pace. Through these presentations, the artists not only brought the folk heritage of Chhattisgarh to the world stage, but also gave the message of India’s cultural prosperity by hoisting the tricolor, which led to a sense of patriotism throughout the event. The Panthi dance, considered the world’s fastest dance during the performance of artists, specially attracted the audience.
Who was involved?
In this international event, the artists representing Chhattisgarh participated under the banner of “Chhattisgarh PD Panthi Parivar”. Prominent among the participating artists – Punadas Joshi, Dr. Harendra Tonde, Manoj Keshkar, Rama Banjare, Alka Minj, Muskan, Akanksha Verma and Akanksha Kesarwani were present.

Team chief Punadas Joshi said, “It is a matter of pride for us that we got an opportunity to present the culture of Chhattisgarh on the international platform of Egypt.” Here we not only got the opportunity to show our culture, but also got the opportunity to know and understand other cultures of the world. ” He further informed that even before this, the Panthi Dal of Agricultural College Raipur has brought laurels to Chhattisgarh by giving its presentations in various countries.
