A tragic incident unfolded in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, where a 70-year-old man perished in a fire that engulfed his home. The blaze reportedly started due to a short circuit in a room heater, which the elderly man, identified as Rajkumar Gupta, had switched on to combat the winter chill. His son, Jitendra, had left for work at a rolling mill, locking the main gate as per his father’s request to prevent him from going outside due to the cold. The rest of the family was away visiting a temple. Neighbors noticed smoke and attempted to intervene, but the locked gate prevented them from reaching the trapped man. Firefighters arrived nearly 1.5 hours after the incident was reported. The police have recovered the body and initiated an investigation into the unfortunate event.
