Raipur. In the Chhattisgarh Assembly today, the demand for budget grant of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai departments was discussed. During this, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant raised questions on the government about unemployment, power crisis, declining mineral production, liquor policy, brokerage in transport and non -use of budget.
Leader of Opposition Mahant said that it is our duty to highlight the mistakes of the government by staying in the opposition. We are not enemies of the government but well wishers. He alleged that the Chief Minister spends less in the House and more time in the room. When they are in the assembly, the MLAs praise him, but the discussion on Narendra Modi starts as soon as he comes out. Taking a sarcasm, he said that explain them that this is the evening government. The MLA should be limited to you.
Unemployment and pending appointments
Questioning the policies of the government, Charandas Mahant said that under the guarantee of Narendra Modi, recruitment to one lakh posts was promised, but no process has started so far. In the last financial year, the creation of the Economic Advisory Council and the backlog recruitment of the disabled was announced, which is still incomplete. The recruitment of the post of Chief Information Commissioner is also stuck.
Decline in mineral production and power crisis
Mahant said that in the financial year 2023-24 mineral production was 25 lakh 693 metric tonnes, but now it has decreased by 15%. The question arises that why did this decline come? He said that Chhattisgarh is a surplus state with lightning, yet the power cut continues. There are incidents of fire in transformers in Raipur and Raigad, which did not happen earlier.
Questions raised on liquor policy, accused of brokerage in Transport Department
The Leader of Opposition criticized the government’s liquor policy and said that the decision to open 67 new liquor shops is against the Article of the Constitution. In which direction will it take the state? He also questioned the increasing number of brokers in the Transport Department. He claimed that the previous government had banned the brokers up to 75%, but now people have again been hit by brokers.
Information technology and financial irregularities
He said that the Department of Information Technology is not updating the website, due to which the public is not getting the right information. As of December, only 77 thousand crore rupees have been spent, while high amount is being given in the helicopter payment. He alleged that the amount can be purchased in the amount of new helicopter, the amount is being spent in the maintenance of the old helicopter.
Industrial accidents and labor laws
Victims of industrial accidents are not getting compensation received under the labor law. People in the Chief Minister’s residence used to take requests to solve their problems, but now this process has been stopped. A budget of Rs 118 crore was allocated to the village industries department, but only Rs 67 crore has been spent in nine months. He said that the government of double engine is getting infamous.
Stray Animal and Cooperative Milk Federation issue
Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant said that under the Kau Cature Scheme, there were plans to keep stray cattle in the cows, but there are still dead animals on the streets. Discussions are being held to give the State Cooperative Milk Federation to the National Dairy Development Board, which will harm local milk producers. The Income Tax Department has to recover Rs 8,000 crore on water from large industries, but so far this recovery could not be done. Referring to the scheme “Narwa, Garwa, Ghurwa, Bari”, he said that the government did not even give the option of this scheme.
Questioning the good governance fellowship scheme, Mahant said that the cabinet files are likely to be seen under this scheme. This may increase the risk of the government’s confidential information leaking. He asked that when many officers in Indian bureaucracy are coming from abroad, are they not being trusted?
Ignoring the Department of Education and Religious Trust
The recruitment of 38 thousand teachers was announced by Brijmohan Agrawal, but no process has started so far. He alleged that 125 schools had been closed. If the government did not stop them, then how did these figures go wrong? Only 4% of the budget received by the Department of Religious Trust and Religion has been spent. Mahant taunted that 66 crore people had come to bathe in Prayagraj, while it is said that there are 33 crore deities in the country. In such a situation, only two devotees had reached for every deity.
Neglect of tourism development
Mahant alleged that the centers built on tourism have disappeared from the entire state. He suggested that tourist destinations be developed by mixing with the forest department. If tourism of Bastar is developed properly then it can become better than North East.
