In New Delhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recognized the efforts of officials instrumental in recent anti-Naxal operations, congratulating them on their achievements. He reaffirmed the Modi government’s commitment to eradicate Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present.

The Home Minister, through a post on X, acknowledged the historic success of the operations and expressed his eagerness to meet with the soldiers involved, planning a visit to Chhattisgarh. These operations have been conducted under the supervision of the Union Home Minister in Chhattisgarh, specifically targeting Maoist insurgents.

A notable operation by the Chhattisgarh Police (including DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur) in the Abujmarh region from May 18-21, 2025, led to an encounter on May 21, 2025, in the Boter village forests. During this, 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Politburo member Basavaraju alias Gaganna, were killed, and a significant amount of weaponry and ammunition were seized.

Among those honored were Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police of Bastar Range Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar (Narayanpur), Jitendra Yadav (Bijapur), and Shalabh Singh (Naxal-free district Bastar). Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other senior officials were in attendance.
