Amit Shah, the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, honored officials in New Delhi for their contributions to successful anti-Naxal operations, highlighting the Modi government’s dedication to eradicating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present.

Shah, in a statement on X, lauded the officers’ efforts and announced his forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh to meet the soldiers who played a crucial role in the operations’ success. The operations, conducted under the direction of the Union Home Minister, involved security forces in Chhattisgarh, particularly in the Abujhmad region. An operation by Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, resulted in a significant encounter on May 21, 2025, in the Boter forests, leading to the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) leader Basavaraju alias Gagganna, and the recovery of considerable arms and ammunition.

Several key officials were recognized by Amit Shah, including DGP Arun Dev Gautam, ADG Vivekanand, IG Sundarraj, SPs Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, among other senior figures, were also in attendance.
