The Congress party in Chhattisgarh has gained strength following the defection of the Shiv Sena’s women’s wing and their supporters. The women formally joined the Congress in a ceremony attended by Congress Pradesh President Deepak Baij. This represents a significant loss for the Shiv Sena in Chhattisgarh. The shift in allegiance occurs amidst contrasting efforts by Shiv Sena leadership. While Uddhav Thackeray is attempting to unite Shiv Sena workers in Maharashtra, the party in Chhattisgarh is witnessing disintegration. Forty members of the Shiv Sena’s women’s wing joined the Congress party at Rajiv Bhavan, the PCC office, under the leadership of PCC Chief Deepak Baij.
