In a vibrant celebration of World Radio Day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai addressed a gathering at a private hotel in Raipur, emphasizing the transformative potential of blending radio’s timeless reliability with artificial intelligence’s rapid capabilities. Launching a pen drive featuring a new rendition of ‘Vande Mataram,’ the CM extended heartfelt greetings to all, particularly acknowledging Akashvani Raipur and UNESCO for organizing the event.

The CM highlighted this year’s theme—Radio and AI—as profoundly relevant in today’s information age. ‘Artificial intelligence is permeating every sector,’ he noted, urging deeper contemplation on leveraging AI to make radio even more accessible and useful to the masses. Timely and accurate information has always been pivotal for citizen development, and radio has played an unmatched role in this regard since its inception.

Praising Akashvani as India’s most trusted news broadcaster, Sai pointed out how it has upheld its legacy of balanced, public-interest reporting amid the cutthroat competition of private channels. In Chhattisgarh, Akashvani remains a powerhouse for information, education, and wholesome entertainment, especially in remote villages where it was once the sole link to the world.

Sai shared personal anecdotes of radio’s impact in rural areas, underscoring its continued relevance for farmers and isolated communities. He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as a testament to radio’s vast reach and influence. With six Akashvani stations operational in the state and Vividh Bharati from Raipur, the medium is deeply embedded in local life.

Envisioning a revolution in communication, the Chief Minister stressed that AI could supercharge radio content—making it more precise, effective, and swift. From emergency alerts and weather forecasts to agricultural advice and health tips, AI integration promises unprecedented efficiency. Chhattisgarh is racing towards a digital future, with India’s first AI Data Center Park rising in Nava Raipur, opening doors in education, healthcare, agriculture, and tech security.

The state’s new industrial policy fosters innovation, ensuring schemes reach the last mile via digital tech. Local broadcasts in Chhattisgarhi, Gondi, and Halbi have strengthened community ties and listener engagement. ‘Radio’s credibility fused with AI’s velocity will fortify public service,’ Sai concluded, reaffirming commitment to a developed Chhattisgarh for a developed India.

UNESCO’s Regional Advisor Hajjaz Ma’ali echoed these sentiments, lauding radio’s global reach and trustworthiness, especially in crises. He advocated AI enhancements and pledged UNESCO’s collaboration with Akashvani for innovation. The event saw participation from Chhattisgarh Sahitya Akademi President Shashank Sharma, Akashvani Director General Rajiv Kumar Jain, and other dignitaries.
