Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended a special screening of the Chhattisgarhi film “Martyr King Guru Balkadas” at Ambujamall cinema in Raipur. Among the attendees were notable figures such as Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Cabinet Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, and other respected community leaders. The Chief Minister highlighted the film as a story of exceptional courage and bravery. He spoke of Guru Balkadas’ fight against the British and Pindari oppressors who inflicted suffering and famine on the farmers. Guru Balkadas not only fought against these injustices, but he also worked to unite the community and promoted education and social harmony. He actively opposed British oppression and significantly contributed to the freedom movement.
In a key announcement, the Chief Minister stated that the film “Martyr King Guru Balkadas” will be tax-free across Chhattisgarh. This measure aims to encourage greater viewership, allowing more people to engage with this inspirational story and connect with their heritage.
CM Sai emphasized the historical significance of Chhattisgarh as a land of valiant martyrs and saints. He encouraged the understanding and remembrance of the sacrifices of freedom fighters. The film effectively portrays Chhattisgarh’s role in the freedom struggle, its cultural richness, social harmony, the resistance against the British, and the simplicity of life.
Chief Minister Sai lauded the talent within Chhattisgarhi cinema and praised the commitment of the artists, directors, and the entire film unit. He attributed the growing popularity of Chhattisgarhi cinema to their hard work. He further noted that the proposed film city by the state government will provide vital infrastructure, more opportunities, and a national stage, which will boost local talents and strengthen the state’s cultural identity.
