Chhattisgarh’s Shimla to be Buzzing with Adventure Sports and Cultural Performances
Raipur, February 10, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will inaugurate the Manpat Festival at Manpat, a tourist destination famous as the Shimla of Chhattisgarh and the mini Tibet. This festival will be organized from February 13 to 15 near the Ropaxar reservoir. The festival is being organized by the Tourism and Culture Department of the state government and the district administration. The inaugural event will be presided over by Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agarwal.
The Manpat Festival will witness a wonderful confluence of folk songs and culture. Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari will perform on February 13. Also, Chhattisgarhi singer Sunil Soni and the famous Chhau dance of Odisha will be presented. On February 14, the renowned folk singer of Chhattisgarh, Alka Chandrakar, and Indian Idol fame Vaishali Raikwar will make the evening memorable with their melodious voices. On February 15, the main attraction of the festival will be the famous Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor. Along with this, Kathak dancer Jyotishree Vaishnav of the Raigarh gharana and singer Ayush Namdev will also present their performances. Besides, local artists and school children will also present cultural programs.
The preparations for the Manpat Festival by the district administration are in the final stages. On this occasion, development exhibitions are being organized by various government departments, showcasing government schemes and local products like Tussar silk and Tibetan handicrafts. Adventure activities at the festival venue will include boating, adventure sports, and traditional wrestling for tourists. Extensive arrangements have been made at the festival venue for security, parking, and the convenience of tourists. One can enjoy traditional delicacies of Surguja in the food zone.
Major Attractions of Manpat
Located about 75 kilometers from Ambikapur headquarters, Manpat is a very beautiful hill station situated at an altitude of 3,781 feet above sea level. A large Tibetan community resides in Manpat, where the Thagpo Sheduling Monastery is a main attraction. Jaljali – This is a geological wonder where the ground is marshy and shakes like a sponge when jumped upon, also called Musical Land. Inverse Water – The water here flows against the slope, which is an unsolved mystery. Apart from these, there are many scenic spots like Tiger Point, Machhli Point, Mehta Point, and Sarbhanja Waterfall.
