Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district have committed a brutal act, resulting in the death of a man in front of his family. The victim, Pujari Madkam Bhima, was attacked with an axe inside his home in the Usur police station area. The Naxals reportedly targeted him because they believed he was providing information to the police. The community is reeling from the violence. According to reports, Madkam Bhima was at home with his family when several Naxals entered his house. The Naxals pulled Madkam out of the house and, in front of his family, proceeded to assault and kill him using an axe. Following the attack, the Naxals immediately fled. Upon receiving information, police responded and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The police are actively investigating the matter, questioning local villagers and Madkam Bhima’s family to understand the full scope of the incident. Given the seriousness of the situation, security has been increased in the area. This type of violence is not uncommon in the Naxal-affected regions of Chhattisgarh, where terror is a constant reality. Efforts are underway by local authorities to prevent such incidents, however, controlling the Naxal activities is proving to be difficult. The local population is experiencing both fear and anger over the killing. A special police team is working to identify and arrest the perpetrators. Inquiries are ongoing within the community to gather all the facts. The murder has devastated Madkam Bhima’s family and the entire village, calling into question the safety and security of those in the region.
