Chhattisgarh has achieved a new milestone in paddy procurement for the Kharif marketing year 2025-26, marking a historic success under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership. As of January 13, 2026, the state has procured a staggering 105.14 lakh metric tons of paddy from 17,77,419 farmers. In a remarkable display of financial support, farmers have already received ₹23,448 crore directly into their bank accounts. This figure represents the highest procurement and payment by January 13 in any previous year, underscoring the government’s commitment to agricultural welfare.

Comparing this year’s achievement with previous records, the data from January 13 for past years highlights the significant leap. In 2020-21, 72.15 LMT of paddy was purchased from 17,49,003 farmers, with ₹13,550 crore disbursed. The following year, 2021-22, saw 68.77 LMT procured from 17,09,834 farmers, resulting in ₹13,410 crore paid out. Even in 2022-23, the procurement stood at 97.67 LMT from 22,14,302 farmers, with a payment of ₹20,022 crore. The current season’s figures of 105.14 LMT and ₹23,448 crore far exceed these benchmarks.

The substantial increase in both procurement volume and financial disbursement to farmers is a testament to the effectiveness of the state government’s transparent procurement system, timely payment mechanisms, and farmer-centric policies. This has significantly boosted the confidence of the farming community, empowering them economically and invigorating the rural economy. The government has also adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities in paddy procurement and storage, taking strict action against officials found negligent or involved in corrupt practices, including suspensions and FIRs, to ensure the integrity of the system.
