Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai marked a significant step towards Chhattisgarh’s future by laying the foundation stone for the joint headquarters of the Chhattisgarh State Power Companies in Nava Raipur. The ceremony, held during the state’s Silver Jubilee year and the Ganesh Utsav, included a traditional prayer and the unveiling of a 3D model of the building. CM Sai emphasized the headquarters’ role in improving employee efficiency, fostering coordination among power companies, and providing unified services to consumers. He also participated in a tree-planting drive.
CM Sai cited the state’s 25-year journey as proof that resolute action, combined with sensitivity, yields historical results. He pointed out that the state’s electricity generation capacity has increased dramatically, from 1400 MW in 2000 to 30,000 MW now.
His recent visits to Japan and South Korea underscored the rapid progress of Chhattisgarh toward global infrastructure and work culture. The new headquarters is a critical component of this advancement. He urged officials to ensure the building’s timely and quality construction, cementing Chhattisgarh’s identity in the energy sector.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the new industrial policy has led to power sector MOUs worth almost three lakh crore rupees. This will pave the way for an additional 30,000 MW of electricity generation in the coming years. He stated that this would not only ensure 24/7 electricity access for residents but also meet the needs of neighboring states. Furthermore, he mentioned the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which accelerates Chhattisgarh’s journey towards free electricity, with its benefits reaching remote areas.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap honored Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his contribution to the creation of the state. He said the approximately 270 crore rupee building will be based on green energy and inspire future generations. The event saw the presence of numerous officials and dignitaries, including MP Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs, and top government officers.
The nine-story joint headquarters will occupy an area of 10,017 square meters and include three separate towers for the power companies. The building, with a capacity of 1300 employees, will have a 210-seat auditorium, a gym, basement parking, mechanical stack parking, and e-vehicle charging. Its construction will meet five-star green building standards, and a building management system will control operations.
Located near key government offices in Nava Raipur, the new headquarters will reinforce inter-departmental cooperation, boosting the state’s energy sector.
