Raipur, July 26, 2025/ Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the state of Chhattisgarh is moving forward with effective and planned efforts towards the eradication of serious diseases like TB. Keeping in mind the goal of making India TB free by the year 2025 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a comprehensive action plan is being prepared and implemented in Chhattisgarh as well.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and the guidance of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the “Nikshay-Niramay Chhattisgarh – 100 Day Campaign” was launched on December 7, 2024. The objective of this campaign was to wage a decisive battle against TB at the ground level. Under the campaign, high-risk individuals were identified by going door-to-door in all the districts of the state and listed, and they were examined using modern techniques. Under this campaign, more than 36 lakh people were screened, more than 4.5 lakh X-ray tests were conducted, and more than 1.5 lakh people were examined with the state-of-the-art ‘Not Machine’. This comprehensive testing process proved to be highly effective for early detection and prompt treatment of TB.

The role of public participation was also remarkable in the success of this campaign. The Governor, Chief Minister, and Health Minister themselves took TB patients under their care and initiated the provision of nutritious food as ‘Nikshay Mitra’. So far, more than 15,000 new Nikshay Mitras have registered and provided nutritional assistance to more than 34,000 patients. MPs, MLAs, public representatives, women, youth, voluntary organizations, and the general public of the state have actively participated in this campaign.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Sai, special attention was focused on those sections of the society who are usually deprived of health services – such as prisoners in jails, the elderly in old age homes, students living in hostels, and workers working in factories. Special camps were organized for them to ensure examination and treatment.

It is the result of these dedicated efforts and collective participation that the state of Chhattisgarh has been honored at the national level for the excellent implementation of the TB Free Gram Panchayat program. So far, 4106 Gram Panchayats of the state have been declared “TB Free” — which is a remarkable achievement.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that when the commitment of the government and public cooperation come together, then change does not just become a goal, it becomes an achievement – and Chhattisgarh is going to become a living example of this.
