The Government of India’s Ministry of Mines has recognized Chhattisgarh for its significant contributions under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) scheme. A commendation was presented at the National DMF Workshop in New Delhi, with P. Dayanand, the state’s Mining Secretary, accepting the honor on behalf of the government. The state’s success in uploading DMF audit data to both state and national portals, reaching a 90% completion rate, was a key factor in the recognition.
The workshop highlighted Chhattisgarh as a model for other states, encouraging them to adopt similar practices regarding data management, transparency, and the effective implementation of DMF projects.
Chhattisgarh is using DMF resources to support education, healthcare, water supply, infrastructure, and livelihood programs in mining-affected regions. Approximately Rs 16,506 crore has been invested in 1,01,313 development projects, with a large number already finished. The state’s approach focuses on transparent processes and tailored interventions based on local requirements, promoting both infrastructural and social advancement.
