Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the SBI Cyber Vigilance Rath in Raipur, marking the commencement of a statewide cyber security awareness campaign. This initiative highlights the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment to protect citizens from cybercrime. Sai emphasized the ease and convenience brought by technology while warning about the associated risks of online fraud.
The awareness campaign will educate people about cyber security through various means, including audio-visual presentations, street plays, and puppet shows. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of being informed about cyber threats and precautions to minimize the risk of falling victim to scams. The campaign will focus on 29 hotspots across the state where cyber fraud incidents are more common.
Sai urged citizens to be cautious with their bank account information, passwords, and OTPs, and to refrain from interacting with unverified links. He highlighted the constant evolution of cybercriminals’ techniques and the necessity of vigilance to safeguard financial assets. The government’s goal is to empower the public with the knowledge needed to protect themselves from cyber fraud.
In response to increasing online financial fraud, the State Bank of India (SBI) has started a comprehensive cyber security awareness program, themed ‘Banker of Every Indian.’ The campaign will operate from August 15, 2024, until November 30, 2025. The campaign’s vehicle, the rath, will travel to all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh, using various theatrical performances and street plays to educate the public on fraud tactics and prevention strategies.
SBI has made available a dedicated helpline number, 1930, for reporting incidents of online financial fraud.
