Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Chhattisgarh is set for June 22nd, according to a revised schedule. Initially postponed from June 16th due to the Ahmedabad plane crash, the visit will see Shah arrive in Raipur in the evening and stay at the BJP headquarters. A major meeting addressing the Naxal issue is planned, with participation from top officials of central security forces including the CRPF, BSF, and ITBP. There is a possibility that Amit Shah will visit the home of Additional SP Akash Rao Giripunje, who was martyred in the Sukma Naxal attack. Detailed information about timings and specific programs is still awaited.

Simultaneously, the state is facing key administrative decisions. The long-awaited expansion of the Vishnu Deo Sai cabinet is on the horizon. The appointment of a new Chief Secretary, with Amitabh Jain’s retirement imminent, is a critical matter. The selection of a full-time DGP is also pending, despite the UPSC panel’s recommendations that include the in-charge DGP and Himanshu Gupta. Sources suggest that these matters might be addressed during Shah’s visit. The quick appointment of the new Chief Secretary is important as Amitabh Jain will retire in 11 days. Historically, the Central government has played a significant role in Chief Secretary appointments in various states. The state government is expected to involve the Union Home Minister in the appointment of the Chief Secretary and full-time DGP.

In addition to official meetings, Amit Shah may engage in discussions with party members, including MLAs and other important leaders.
