Pradhan Mantri Awas are not just houses, but the foundation of dignity, security, and self-reliance for poor families – Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur February 5, 2026/ In the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Chhattisgarh has once again presented a strong example of good governance, strong willpower, and results-oriented administration. In the very first cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, the historic decision to approve 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas was taken. In pursuance of this decision, as a result of the continuous, organized, and relentless efforts of all districts of the state, Chhattisgarh has set a new national record under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In the current financial year 2025-26, in a period of just 10 months and 4 days, the highest number of 5 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas have been completed in Chhattisgarh, which is the highest in the country. This achievement is also special because for the first time since the inception of the scheme, Chhattisgarh has set a record of constructing 5 lakh houses in a single financial year. By constructing an average of more than 1,600 houses per day, including the monsoon period, the state has set a new benchmark for timely, quality, and target-oriented work execution.

The active participation of the districts and a healthy competitive work culture under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have become a strong foundation for this achievement. In this regard, Bilaspur district with 29,235, Mahasamund with 27,224, Balrampur with 27,012, Korba with 26,839, and Raigarh district with 26,707 houses completed have played a leading role in the overall achievement of the state. Additionally, Masturi, Arang, Dabra, Bilha, Pali, and Jajepur Janpad Panchayats have also made significant contributions by completing more than 7,500 Pradhan Mantri Awas.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma said that along with house construction, livelihood generation is also being given equal priority in Chhattisgarh. Thousands of women associated with women self-help groups have started supplying construction materials by taking loans from CLF banks, which has given new momentum to the rural economy. As a result of this initiative, more than 8,000 women have become self-reliant as ‘Lakhpati Didis’, which is a significant achievement towards women empowerment. Along with this, masonry training is also being provided with the aim of connecting beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana with skills. In the current financial year, more than 6,000 beneficiaries have been trained through RSETI located in the districts, including more than 960 women and more than 292 surrendered Naxalites. This initiative is becoming an effective medium for skill development as well as social rehabilitation and mainstream integration.

Various works have been sanctioned for livelihood enhancement under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA on the private land of housing beneficiaries, under which the construction of more than 10,000 livelihood ponds is currently in progress in the state.

Thus, through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chhattisgarh, not only is the construction of houses being ensured at a rapid pace, but along with these, permanent livelihood opportunities are also being created, which are providing a strong foundation for the inclusive, balanced, and sustainable development of the state.

“The completion of 5 lakh houses in Chhattisgarh in just 10 months in the current financial year 2025-26 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which is the highest in the country, is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh. I decided to approve 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas in the first cabinet meeting so that no poor and needy family in the state is deprived of a pucca house. This achievement is the result of the clear policy of the state government, administrative coordination, and the hard work of the officers and employees working at the ground level. For me, Pradhan Mantri Awas is not just a house, but the foundation of dignity, security, and a better future for poor families, and by creating livelihood opportunities through them, we are moving Chhattisgarh towards inclusive and sustainable development.”– Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai

“The completion of 5 lakh houses by Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a clear testament to the state’s administrative capacity, strong monitoring system, and effective implementation at the ground level. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, the government has given the highest priority to the goal of providing pucca houses to the poor and needy families. By integrating livelihood, skill training, and women empowerment with house construction, the scheme has been made a medium for holistic development. This national record reflects the success of Chhattisgarh’s good governance-based development policy.”– Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma
