In a major boost for tribal development, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai chaired a key meeting of the Surguja Tribal Development Authority in Baikunthpur, Korea district. The session focused on reviewing ongoing projects across Surguja division districts and greenlighting fresh initiatives based on local representatives’ inputs.

CM Sai emphasized the state government’s top priority on uplifting Surguja and Bastar regions. Through the authority, relentless efforts are underway to integrate remote forest areas with the mainstream. For the financial year 2025-26, a ₹50 crore budget allocation received formal approval.

On proposals from regional leaders, financial sanction of ₹49.05 crore was granted for 543 new development works. Additionally, 606 projects approved in 2024-25 got official ratification. Sai directed officials to complete all approved tasks within deadlines with top-notch quality and wrap up pending ones by March.

‘No compromise on basic amenities like drinking water,’ Sai asserted firmly. He instructed ensuring ample water supply during the scorching summer months. Under PM Janman Yojana, electrification in Sonhat block of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district is progressing swiftly.

Sai urged time-bound, quality execution so benefits reach tribal and forest dwellers directly. He called for installing high-mast solar lights in affected areas, resolving farmers’ issues, fixing electricity bill errors, and strict action against substandard construction.

Highlighting tourism potential, Sai noted the previous meeting in Jashpur’s Mayali boosted its profile, earning a Guinness record for the world’s largest Shivling and funds under Swadesh Darshan scheme. This Baikunthpur meet will similarly elevate the district’s identity and tourism prospects.

The meeting saw participation from Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Authority Vice-Chair Gomti Sai, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Women & Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, Tourism Minister Rajesh Agarwal, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Industry Minister Lakhanlal Devangan, MP Chintamani Maharaj, MLAs, senior officials, and local leaders.
